Introduce your littlest artists to the world of art through fun and engaging projects. Artists manipulate a variety of materials, and practice fine motor skills while encouraging creative explorations in the PMA Art Studio.

Dates:  1st and 3rd Friday of the month
Times: 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Ages:  2-5 years old with caregiver
Cost:    $6.00/members and  $8.00/non-members, per class
 
  • January 18:  Scrape, Drip, and Splat Get messy in Preschool Art Time! Artists use straws, pipettes, and everything but a brush to create abstract paintings to take home. Dress for a mess! 
  • February 1: Koi Fish Paper, scissors, and glue are all you need to create movable fish pets. Join us in the Art Studio and create a pond full of koi fish all while working on fine motor skills. Bonus about paper fish - no bowl to clean! 
  • February 15: Symmetrical Prints Draw inspiration from nature! From small to large, create beautiful butterfly and insect prints. Dress for a mess!   
  • March 1: Portraits Bring your silliest faces in the Art Studio for portrait making. Prepare to get messy as artists  experiment painting portraits with brushes, their fingers, and toes! 
  • March 15: Sand Art Canvas is not just for paint! In the Art Studio get messy with sand and glue to create a textured mixed media canvas to take home.
  • April 5: Polka Dots Inspired by the art of Yayoi Kusama, artists create large, bold, polka-dot, spring flowers. Artists practice their circles, fine motor skills, and color recognition.
  • April 19: Oil Pastels Join the Art Studio and explore the process of turning oil pastels into paint. Dress for a mess!
  • May 3: The Evolving Canvas Caution: This class is very messy and incredibly fun. Using paint, bryers, rollers, squeeze bottles, hands, and feet, artists collaboratively work on canvas from start to finish. Dress for a mess! 
  • May 17: Color Collage Red, yellow, green, and blue. Artists create monochromatic mixed media collages of their favorite colors. 
  • June 7: Floating Chalk Prints Chalk is more than the sidewalk! Join the Art Studio to shave some chalk and create unique  colorful floating prints to take home. 
  • June 21: Mixed Media Art It all about the process in Mixed Media Art. Buttons, tape, paint, wire, and beads are just a few of the materials that artists manipulate for their final product.
